Biography

Matthew Burgess was educated at The Judd School, Tonbridge before studying Music at The Queen’s College, Oxford where he was the Organ Scholar. During his time at Queen’s he gained both the ARCO and FRCO diplomas, latterly with multiple prizes. Upon graduating he was Organ Scholar at Westminster Cathedral before embarking on a career in teaching. He currently teaches Music and Mathematics at La Sainte Union School in Camden.

Beyond teaching, Matthew maintains a busy schedule as a performer. He spent four years as Director of Music at St Paul’s Church, Clapham before more recently taking up the position of Assistant Organist at All Saints Church, Fulham. He is also accompanist for the Music Makers of London chamber choir in Barnes.
