Parish Choir at Chichester Cathedral

On Sunday 2 September, our parish choir sang all three services of Mattins, Sung Eucharist, and Evensong at Chichester Cathedral, covering for the cathedral choir who were on holiday. The arduous programme for the day meant that the choir drove down on Saturday afternoon, ready for an early start to rehearsals. The choir adapted masterfully to the cathedral’s wonderful acoustic, and I lost count of the number of Chichester ‘regulars’ who asked me to pass on their appreciation of the quality of the music. Special thanks must go to David Crick, choir administrator, for organizing the trip, to Jonathan Holmes, our Director of Music, for conducting, to Simon Gregory for playing the cathedral organ, and to all those who sang. We are also grateful to Chichester Cathedral for the opportunity and for the warm welcome. The choir did St Mary’s proud!
