Remembrance Sunday 2013

At 10:30am on Remembrance Sunday (10 November 2013), ceremonies commenced with wreath-laying at the war memorial in Ewell churchyard. The Civic Act of Remembrance followed in St Mary the Virgin, Ewell Parish Church, and included the two minute silence at 11:00am. Over 600 people attended the service. The sermon was preached by the Revd Russell Dewhurst, Vicar of Ewell, assisted by the Revd Sue Ayling and the Revd Dr Patrick Miller. The service was attended by the Mayor of Epsom and Ewell, Councillor Colin Taylor, and other members of the Borough Council, and by members of the Royal British Legion. The service was sung by St Mary’s Parish Choir and was accompanied by the Epsom Silver Band. After the service, the Mayor inspected Ewell’s local Territorial Army squadron and other troops on Church Street.
