Guyana

St. Mary the Virgin, Ewell has had links with Guyana dating back many years. In particular, we are closely linked with the parish of St. Margaret's, Corriverton, which we have been able to support financially on several occasions, and with its Priest, the Rev. Marcus Simon. The Rev. Simon is also in charge of St. Mary's Leeds; of Holy Epiphany, Orealla, which is 56 miles from Corriverton, up the Corentyne River; and of St. Agnes, New Market, some six miles between St. Margaret's and St. Mary's. As well as his extensive parish responsibilities, the Rev. Marcus Simon is Rural Dean of Berbice.

In addition to our links with Corriverton, we have attended on a number of occasions celebrations in London with the Guyana Diocesan Association, the President of which is the Bishop of Guyana, the Right Rev. Randolph Oswald George. We have enjoyed several visits to St. Mary's Ewell by Bishop George in recent years, and have also had the pleasure of welcoming the Rev. Simon to our services.
