Director of Music,
Jonathan Holmes, MA (Oxon), B.Mus, FRCO, ARCM. Jonathan Holmes studied organ and piano at The Royal College of Music and at The Queen’s College, Oxford, where he was Organ Scholar. He began teaching music at King’s College School, Wimbledon, before moving to Wales, where he became Director of Music at Monmouth School. Monmouth School’s Boys’ Choir performed regularly with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and with Welsh National Opera. He still works with the Monmouth Choral Society. 1993 saw Jonathan Holmes become Director of Music at Cranleigh School in Surrey, where he organised performances of Orff’s “Carmina Burana”, the Verdi Requiem and Elgar’s “The Dream of Gerontius.” He was appointed as Director of Music to Emanuel School in Battersea Rise, London SW11, during September 1997. He retired in August 2015 and now helps with the music at Ewell Castle School and Epsom College.

You can listen to Jonathan’s organ recitals on his YouTube channel.

Administrator,
David Crick DipRSCM. David is now the longest serving member of the choir, having joined in 1966 and having continuous service. He served the Royal School of Church Music as a Residential Course House Captain in the 1970s and was a member of the Guildford Area RSCM Committee for a number of years with responsibility for the affiliated churches in the Epsom Deanery. Together with the Area Chairman at the time, he produced the first syllabus for the Area’s Dean’s and Bishop’s Awards, which was used for many years until replaced in 2001. A busy life (which included refereeing professional football) took him away from RSCM service but he ‘returned to the fold’ in 2017 when he was appointed RSCM Guildford Area Chairman.

Head Chorister Emeritus,
”Hoot” is the choir mascot. Very many years ago, a previous Organist, Mr Jack Keyes, used to comment that, on occasions, boy choristers, especially those from cathedrals, tended to hoot whilst singing. This gave us the inspiration for the mascot. As you can see he has his own cassock and winged surplice!!
