Parish retreat – October 2013

‘Travelling light’

Do any of the following appeal to you?  Peace and quiet?  Reflecting on your faith through music, poetry, photography and silence?  Staying in a beautiful country house of Jacobean origin?  Delicious home-cooked food?  Reading in front of a lovely wood fire?  Walking in grounds comprising a lake and over 20 acres of gardens, woodland and fields, rich in bird and plant life?  If the answer to any of these is ‘Yes’, you may be interested in St Mary’s Parish Retreat later in the year, from 18th to 20th October.

STOP PRESS: We have now opened up the booking for the Parish Retreat to fellow members of nearby churches.

STOP PRESS: Revised booking form updated 12 September 2013.

The weekend, called ‘Travelling light’, will be led by the Reverend Barry Preece, who was Assistant Curate at St Mary’s when he was first ordained in 1971. For several years Barry was the Diocesan Advisor on Spirituality.  Most recently he has been Rector of East and West Clandon, but retires at the end of January this year.  We shall be staying at St. Cuthmans, Coolham and you will find their website at www.stcuthmans.com  There are 8 single rooms, 7 twin rooms and one double room.  Guests need to be able to climb stairs for room access and emergency purposes.

If you are interested in going, please inform Sue Ayling, our Assistant Priest, (020 8337 6347 or using our contact page) so she can add your name to the list of interested people.  If you have any questions, please contact Sue, or Wendy Varney, our Reader (020 8393 5212).
