    The Ewell Village Advent Calendar 2024

    The Ewell Village Advent Calendar is back! From 1 December, different letters – ‘the clues’ – will be displayed in the window or inside 22 local shops and on the outside notice boards of St Mary’s Church and Christ Church, Ewell. Each shop and church will have a number from 1 to 24 designed by 1st Ewell Village (St Mary’s) Brownies. Every child wishing to take part will be given a special booklet to complete by writing next to each number the matching letter or ‘clue’. St Mary’s Church will have number 24. Answers to the puzzle can be delivered to ‘All Things Nice’ until noon on Monday 23 December…

    A Day for All – 2024

    On Saturday 28 September, interspersed among several rainy days, we were blessed with a gloriously sunny day for A Day for All, and lots of people – of all ages – came along to enjoy themselves. As has become the tradition, the wonderful sound of the church bells of St Mary’s launched the day and – for the first time – the opportunity was given for people to see how the bells are rung. Then followed the ever popular dancing of Ewell St Mary’s Morris Men, displaying their skill, first with the traditional wooden sticks and then with white scarves, accompanied by their musicians.     ‘A Day For All’ 28 September 2024 Photo Competition Entry Details

    The theme of the photo competition is ‘Harvest Joys!’. Possible topics for your photos include gathering ripe fruit, seed-heads, the talents of young musicians, or the harvest moon. Use your imagination. What can you think of which might be a harvest? You can submit up to two photos taken by you. Use your name as the photo file name and add a number (1-2 with 1 being your top entry) if you are entering more than one photo.     A Day for All 2024

    The theme of this year’s fun community event is ‘Harvest Joys!’ The popular Kingswood Shetland Ponies and their small friends are already booked to come and there will be talks on ‘Harvesting Honey’ and ‘The Lost Lands of Ewell’. There will be craft activities for children, the bells of St Mary’s will ring out, Ewell St Mary’s Morris Men will be dancing, some young musicians will play, and the Divas Choir will sing. Everything during the day is free, including a bread and soup lunch and cake and a drink at teatime. The only money which exchanges hands is if you come and enjoy the fish and chip supper. Any…
